How to Use the Asphalt Cost Calculator

This tool calculates both material requirements and financial estimates for asphalt paving. Enter your project dimensions (length, width, thickness), specify mix density (default 2400 kg/m³), enter local asphalt material pricing per tonne, and add labor rates along with optional prep or removal services.

Asphalt Cost Formula

Total Cost = Material Cost + Labor Cost + Base Preparation + Removal + Extras

Material Cost = Required Tonnes × Price per Tonne

Labor Cost = Surface Area × Labor Rate per Unit Area

What Affects Asphalt Paving Cost?

  • Project Size: Larger surface areas reduce per-square-foot mobilization costs.
  • Layer Thickness: Thicker compacted lifts increase raw material tonnage.
  • Mix Composition: Polymer-modified binders cost more than standard HMA.
  • Subgrade & Base Prep: Soft soil requires extra aggregate base course compaction.
